On November 9, 2011, at 1:00 PM the first ever Nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System will be conducted. Don’t be alarmed when television and radio broadcasts are interrupted for the test. If you have a Weather Radio it will be activated during the test.

According to Butler County Emergency Manager Director Terry Hunt, the test is being conducted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. EAS participants include all broadcasters, satellite and digital radio and television, cable television and wireline video providers who ensure the system is at a constant state of readiness. Beech Tree Radio WLBQ 1570 will be part of the test as well.
