TENNIS: Hampton to compete in State Tournament

Butler County Tennis player Chanda Hampton will be making to trip to Lexington to compete in the 2012 KHSAA State Tennis Tournament. Hampton made an appearance in the finals of the 3rd Region Tennis Championships where she fell to Kendall Moore from Daviess County 6-2, 6-4. The finalists and semifinalists from all 16 regions advance to the state tournament where they are seeded and compete in a single elimination tournament.

Hampton, just a sophomore, will take on the number one seeded player in the tournament in Madie Cook, a senior from Notre Dame Academy and winner of the Region 9 Tennis Tournament. The two will face-off at 8 a.m. Eastern Time this Thursday at Shillito Park Tennis Complex. Best of luck to Chanda as she represents Butler County in the state tournament!
