A Surge in Vaping Nicotine and Pot

A three-decade study has found rising rates of vaping and marijuana use among teens, especially unsupervised teens. While the study found that smoking and alcohol use declined over time, nicotine and marijuana spiked.  The study also found that children who participated in structured activities with adult supervision were the least likely to be involved in substance use.  This fact doesn’t mean overscheduling or watching teens 24/7, but keeping communication lines open and having a dialogue about substance use.   A parent's influence is one of the main reasons teens choose not to turn to substance use.
