"Staying Strong For Steven" nets almost $30K

Over 500 people gathered in the Butler County High School gym Saturday night for a benefit for Butler County residents Steven and Shera Lindsey.

Steven Lindsey was in a car accident on January 15th and had to have his right arm amputated as a result of his injuries.

The benefit, which raised almost $30,000, included auctions, live music, and food. Benefit organizer Katie Flener said over 175 items were donated for the silent auction, live auction, and raffles.

Flener said, “I had around 45 adult volunteers and 30 student volunteers that helped Saturday night. We sold almost 400 shirts, and all the shirts were paid for due to the generous donations of businesses. So, all the money from the shirts went to their family. Butler County is the absolute best place to live. In times of need, the community steps up and takes care of their own. It’s just what we do.”

The Lindseys said, “We thank God for living in Butler County. We could never express our gratitude and thankfulness to everyone who has helped us. The outpouring of love has been overwhelming and we appreciate it so much.”
