Special Called Fiscal Court Meeting

Second District Magistrate Johnny Tuck

The Butler County Fiscal Court met briefly on Wednesday afternoon to act on some items of business that couldn’t be postponed until the next regular meeting. Magistrate Keith Daugherty was absent from the meeting.

Road Supervisor Timmy West reported to the Court that he had found a 2006 Chevy pickup with a utility bed and diesel engine at the Kentucky State surplus sale. West said the truck has the largest Duramax diesel engine available—6.6 liters—along with an Alison transmission, and had only 135,000 miles on the vehicle. The Road Department is currently taking some of its higher mileage trucks out of service and West said this truck was what was needed to replace the current utility truck. West also reported that he had found a set of tire chains for the truck, for only $50.00, but no action could be taken because purchasing the chains was not on the agenda. The cost of the truck will be $6,000.00 and was approved by a 4-0 vote.

Treasurer Susan Johnson told the court that a refund of $119.70 needed to be authorized to a local church that mistakenly sent an IRS payment to the county for occupational taxes. Magistrates approved the refund by a 4-0 vote.

Next the court approved the purchase of occupational tax software for the price of $4,500.00. The purchase had been approved previously, but the approved price of $4,000.00 did not cover the actual price of the software. Magistrates voted 4-0 to buy the software.

The final item of business was approval of 2 payments of $1,1145.00 to Clean Freaks, LLC and Clean Freaks Too for monthly cleaning at the courthouse. The approval was needed because the original bidder, Clean Freaks, LLC, has split into two separate companies. The court voted 4-0 to make the payments, but Magistrate Chad Tyree asked if the service was up for rebid any time soon. Judge Fields told Tyree that he too thought it was time to rebid for cleaning services, but no action was taken.

The meeting was then adjourned.
