Southerland Farm Weddings & Events

Even though we are going into the hectic holiday season, there’s another activity that can take up a lot of a family’s time during the following months…wedding planning.  With June being the peak month for the wedding season, several are beginning their planning now.  After finding the individual you want to spend the rest of your life with, the next step is to find the perfect place for the special day, and a local family here in Butler County has created the ideal venue.

Local photographer Laurie Keen, and her mother Carol Southerland have come together to construct a gorgeous barn available for weddings and events.  At 3750 square feet all on one level there is plenty of room for everyone as they prepare, enjoy, and end their day from start to finish. With the ability to seat up to 200 people, the barn is situated on a secluded 130 hundred acre farm that has all the amenities to host a memorable event.  There are large private rooms for both the bridal and groomsmen parties to prepare as well as a large kitchen area that can be used for catering. A new chip and seal driveway leads to the barn with plenty of parking and all aspects of the facility are handicap accessible.

For local history buffs, a “marrying rock “is on site as well next to the barn. Decades back the local magistrate would take couples out to the marrying rock for their wedding ceremonies.  The barn was built by members of the Amish community in Logan County, with all logs came from Poplar trees sawed and hewn from the Southerland family property where the facility sits.

Laurie wants to emphasize that even though she is a photographer by trade, you do not have to use her services in order to rent the facility.  Feel free to use whomever you like as your vendor.  However, if you want her as your photographer she will be more than happy to accept you as a client.  With the facility being built to face the beautiful rural sunset, it has endless possibilities for beautiful photogenic moments.

Created not only with weddings in mind, this facility is also available for other events as well. Words cannot describe the rustic beauty this facility emanates, from the four foot chandelier that hangs in the center, and breathtaking views of the farm fields, you must see the place for yourself. Laurie and her mother will be at the Southern Kentucky Bridal Expo in the Knicely Conference Center on January 19, 2019, and will also be touring other bridal fairs in the coming months as well.  To see more pictures of the barn as well as contact information visit their site at www.southerlandfarm.com or call 270-526-7776 .
