South Warren's Layla Ogden Named MaxPreps All-American

BOWLING GREEN — South Warren senior captain Layla Ogden added another prestigious honor to her historic career Thursday, earning Third Team All-America recognition as MaxPreps announced its 2026 High School Softball All-America Team.

The honor recognizes the nation's top high school softball players based on their performance during the 2026 spring season. Earlier this month, Ogden was named the 2026 Kentucky MaxPreps Player of the Year, recognizing her as the state's top overall player.

Ogden served as a senior captain for a South Warren team that finished a perfect 45-0, captured the program's first KHSAA State Softball Championship, and earned recognition as a 2026 National Champion by multiple national ranking services.

One of the nation's premier two-way players, Ogden excelled both at the plate and in the circle.

Offensively, she batted .492 with 64 hits, 14 home runs, 67 RBIs, and 41 runs scored, anchoring one of the nation's most explosive lineups.

In the circle, Ogden posted a perfect 18-0 record with a 0.77 ERA, striking out 109 batters in 72.2 innings while allowing only nine earned runs all season. She also finished with the fewest runs allowed by any pitcher in Kentucky.

Her leadership, versatility, and ability to deliver in every phase of the game were key factors throughout South Warren's championship season, making her one of the defining players in program history.

Ogden's postseason honors now include:

• 2026 MaxPreps Kentucky Player of the Year

• MaxPreps Third Team All-American

• Kentucky Class 3A Player of the Year

Ogden closed her six-year varsity career with a 75-3 pitching record, 505 career strikeouts, and a reputation as one of Kentucky's premier dual-threat players.

Her selection as a MaxPreps All-American further cements her legacy as one of the most decorated athletes in South Warren history and one of the finest softball players ever produced in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
