SoKy Christian Homeschoolers Honor Seniors

SoKy Christian Homeschoolers would like to congratulate their three high school graduates for the 2020 school year: Valarie Bratcher, Madison Embry and Timothy Secula. All have graduated with honors and have been accepted into college for Fall 2020. The three have grown into outstanding Christian examples to their community and are a blessing to everyone they meet. We are so proud of their accomplishments and pray that God continues to bless them on their educational journey.

Congratulations to Timothy Secula! Timothy is a 2020 high school honors graduate from F.I.T. Academy in Barren County, Kentucky. Timothy received the DC to Finish Scholarship from Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College where he is enrolled for the Fall 2020 Semester. Timothy has an avid interest in early American History, and he plans to pursue a career as a college history professor. Timothy is the oldest son of Nick and Tiffany Secula and has been homeschooled for the last seven years. His faith is very important to him and he is an active member of the Three Forks church of Christ where he participates in song leading, teaching classes and assisting with the youth group. In addition to participating in two homeschool co-ops, SOKY Christian Homeschoolers and Three Forks Homeschool Co-op, Timothy has been part of the Lads to Leaders program since 2013. Timothy enjoyed participating in song leading, speech, Bible Bowl and Pearls events among others and won many awards. This year Timothy earned the highest achievement Lads to Leaders and Leaderettes offers, the Red Coat Leadership Award. This award, modeled after the Lads Founder Dr. Jack Zorn, requires at least 6 years of participation in convention events as well as completion of service, outreach, and leadership projects. Congratulations Timothy on reaching this milestone in your education. Your family is very proud of you!

Madison Laraine Embry is the daughter of Timothy & Crystal Embry of Hartford, KY. She is a 2020 honors graduate from Plants and Pillars Preparatory School. Madison is a member of SoKy Christian Homeschoolers and Three Corners Employment Stepping Stones to Success program’s teen council where she serves as chairwoman. Madison has had a lifelong interest in art and creative writing. In the fall, she will be attending Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia. She will pursue a bachelor's degree in the honors program with a major in Animation and Game Arts. Madison is a Moore Visionary Woman’s Honors Program scholarship recipient, Moore Early Action Scholarship recipient, and Three Corners Employment scholarship recipient. Congratulations Maddie!

Valarie Bratcher is a 2020 high school honors graduate and Three Corners Employment scholarship recipient. She graduated with a 3.9GPA and has enrolled in Morehead State for the Fall 2020 semester where she will be pursuing a degree in nursing. She plans to pursue an MSN and become a certified midwife. She is the daughter of Darrell and Kimberly Bratcher and has been homeschooled for the past 10 years. She has been an active member of her community, playing soccer for the local community recreational league for 3 years, basketball for a Christian school for 4 years, and participating in her local homeschool group’s co-op. Her Christian faith is important to her and she is an active member in her church, Jesus First Holiness Church where she attends regularly. Valarie also has been active in 4h, and is an avid hunter and enjoys outdoors and fishing. Valarie worked as a CNA at a local nursing home and has a natural nurturing personality. She is one of 10 children in her family and has always had a desire to care for others. Congratulations Valarie on your graduation!

We would also like to acknowledge their parents’ contribution to their education and commend them for a job well done! We know it is no simple task to teach your child at home and we applaud you for your tremendous dedication to them receiving a Christian education. We admire your commitment in teaching them skills that not only will further them in their careers, but also allow them to become outstanding citizens and people of faith with superb Christian character.

SoKy Christian Homeschoolers is a local homeschooling group based in Butler County, Kentucky that serves homeschooling families in the Butler, Ohio, Warren, Grayson Counties and surrounding area. They meet monthly in the Spring and Fall at the Good News Community Center for enrichment activities and offer other educational and social opportunities. The three graduates have been members of the group since its inception and have been a very active part in their Enrichment Days. We want to wish all of our graduates well and pray that they will use the tools they have obtained in their years of home education to further their lives and career of choice.

A drive through graduation ceremony will take place outside the Good News Community Center on May 29th at 6pm in their honor.
