SOFTBALL: Chaney to sign with Wabash Valley College on Friday

MORGANTOWN - Butler County High School senior catcher Hannah Chaney is set to sign with the Wabash Valley College softball program.

A signing ceremony for Chaney is set for 1:45 p.m. on Friday at the Butler County Athletic Fieldhouse.

One of the top softball players in the 3rd Region, Chaney has excelled throughout her high school career. In 2019, during her junior season, Chaney batted .430 with 42 runs, 40 hits in 93 at-bats, 12 doubles, one triple, 13 home runs and 24 walks. She helped to lead Butler County to a 22-12 record during the 2019 high school softball season.

Before competing for Wabash Valley College, Chaney will take the field in her senior season at Butler County High School. The Bears are scheduled to open the 2020 high school softball season in March.

"Hannah has been a core player in our program for several years now, as well as one of the best in the Third Region," said BCHS Softball head coach John Embry. "Wabash is a great opportunity for her to continue her softball career at the collegiate level."
