SOFTBALL: Bears win 12th District Tournament - third time in a row

A three-peat it was on Thursday night, May 18, as the Butler County Bears softball team defeated host Edmonson County 11-5 to claim its third consecutive district championship.  The Bears advanced to the championship game following a first-round 9-5 win over Whitesville Trinity on Tuesday.

"What a night! This team played hard from the first inning to the last," said BCHS head coach Amy Robbins.  "Facing Edmonson County is never easy. They are a tough team. Avery (Gleason) pitched a great game and we hit the ball well, especially with runners in scoring position. Great all-around team win."

Butler County, 22-5-1 on the season, will begin Third Region play on Saturday, May 20, against Ohio County.  Game time is set for 12:30 p.m. The Bears defeated the Eagles twice this season, 13-0 and 6-0.  Grayson County is the host school for the tournament.
