SOFTBALL: Bears pick up two district wins

Butler County defeated Whitesville Trinity on Thursday, 5-3.  Trinity scored first in the second inning and two runs in the top of the third.

Butler County answered when Parker Willoughby doubled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run, and Madison Clark singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run. Butler County pulled away for good with two runs in the fourth inning. 

Avery Gleason was the winning pitcher. She allowed seven hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out four and walking zero.

Karrington Hunt led the Bears with two hits in three at-bats.

 

Butler County 14    Grayson County 0

Butler County defeated the Grayson County Lady Cougars 14-0 on Tuesday. Pitcher Avery Gleason allowed just two hits.

Parker Willoughby, who went 4-for-4 at the plate, singled in the first inning, doubled in the second, doubled in the fourth, and singled in the fourth, led the Bears.

Madison Clark doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run in the first inning.

Butler County added seven runs in the fourth inning. Several Bears - Clark, Karrington Hunt, Addison Miller, and Willoughby - all sent runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Gleason got the win for Butler County. Gleason lasted five innings, allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out six.

Butler County tallied 14 hits on the day. Willoughby, Carley Jones, Clark, and Tinslea Belcher collected multiple hits.
