Soccer: Bears drop home opener to Muhlenberg County

MORGANTOWN - Butler County was limited offensively as Muhlenberg County pulled away to win 11-1 in a boys' high school soccer match on Monday, Sept. 13.
The Bears and Mustangs, Region 3 rivals from bordering districts, met for the first time in the 2021 boys' high school soccer season. Butler County hosted Muhlenberg County for its home opener. 
Camden Newman (three goals, two assists), Ty Hardison (two goals), Nate Harper (two goals), Dawson Guffy (one goal, two assists), Dylan Niemi (one goal, two assists), Mason Lile (one goal) and Ryan Jones (one goal) contributed to Muhlenberg County's offensive attack. 
Goalkeeper Oak Shain led Muhlenberg County's defensive effort, recording eight saves while allowing only one goal. 
Xavier Jones netted Butler County's lone goal in the boys' high school soccer match. 
Defensively for Butler County, goalkeepers Alex Elmore and Tyler Skipworth combined to record 15 saves.  
The Bears and Mustangs aren't scheduled to meet again in the 2021 boys' high school soccer season.
