Small Steps, Big Success

Three Corners Employment has been providing opportunities to local people in the area and surrounding counties for nearly two years now.

Three Corners partners with local businesses and employment specialists who work alongside those in the community to give them the necessary skills to succeed.

CEO and founder of the program, Timothy Henderson, started the company almost two years ago when he discovered how large of a need there was for people in the area to receive assistance in obtaining employment. Henderson has been working along side his mother and cofounder, Stacy Henderson, who said she has been providing assitance to others all of her life. Growing up witnessing the difference that can be made, Timothy Henderson wanted to do something of equal greatness. Director Jason Ausbrooks has also played a large role in assisting with the programs.

Among the many services offered, Steps to Work is a program that has given students the chance to improve their circumstances with the help of those at the center. This six-week summer work program recently came to an end for 18 high school Juniors and Seniors who were given a chance to work along side local businesses in the community for two hours a day, Monday - Friday. This opportunity gave students a chance to see if these jobs would be something of interest to them. Students received stipends and/or paychecks for their work and learned valuable workforce skills.

"We wanted to give them opportunities and incenitvies to where they would want to work and to dream and set goals for themselves," Stacy Henderson said.

A banquet was held on Saturday, July 13 at the Good News Center for the students that recently finished the summer program. Food was served and awards were handed out, following a slideshow that summarized the program. Miss Teen Catfish Kenlee Grubb was also present to assist in presenting awards.

Students that took part in the program include: Alison Crume, Caitlin Forbes, Autumn Frady, Alyssa Hutchinson, Dustin Johnson, Makenzie Jones, Zane May, Ethan McCrocklin, Dylan Morales, America Pendley, Avery Pendley, Stephen Porter, Michael Ryan, David Sanchez, Alex Smith, Kenna Strausberger and Kaylee VanMeter.

Businesses that took part in the program were: Ace Hardware, Butler County Animal Shelter, Boys & Girls Club, Butler County Middle School, Findley Drywall, Houchen’s IGA, Little Fox Bakery, Morgantown Care and Rehab, Richard Dye’s Law Firm, Smith Funeral Home and Van Buren’s Market.

The Outstanding Business of the Year for the second year was Smith Funeral Home. Two students of the program: Caitlin Forbes and Avery Pendley, were recognized for their outstanding achievements.

Employement specialists that were present were also recognized and thanked for their hard work as well.

"I want to thank everyone that took time out of their summer to take part in this program," Timothy Henderson said.

Along with the Steps to Work Program, Three Corners also provides programs such as Stepping Stones to Success, Step 1 Services and Employment Retention. Three Corners is located in Horse Branch and works with adults as well as teens, serving a total of 11 counties.
