Senior Recognition At Home Band Show 2013

BCMS Band

The Butler County High School Marching Band hosted 12 bands at their 2013 Show on Saturday.  The event started with the playing of the National Anthem by the 210 member Butler County Middle School Band.  The BCHS Band traveled to Russellville on Saturday night to compete, and came home with hardware.  The band  took Best Guard, 1st Place, and Reserve Grand Champion.

Favorite Band Memory:  Dressing up as a hamburger bun at a Hot Rods game that we played the national anthem at

Future Plans:  Go to college at WKU and become a nurse.  Also, hopefully continuing marching band in college

Words of advice for the underclassmen:  You may have a thought one year that you may quit band, but don’t.  All of your greatest and most memorable moments will be in Band.  I know I’ll miss it.  Enjoy it while you can.


Name:  Benjamin David Brown

Honors/Awards in Band:  Most Improved Marcher

Favorite Band Memory:  Going to the pool party and hanging out with all of my friends while having a splash contest

Future Plans:  Go to Bowling Green Tech to become an Automotive Technician

Words of advice for the underclassmen:  Get a life

Name:  Samantha Camus

Parents:  Ronnie and Kathie Embry (escorted today by:  Teresa Fentress, Abby and Adeline Charlton)

Started off playing trumpet, but I had a big mouth and Mr. Flener put me on the baritone and I have played that ever since.

Honors/Awards in Band:  8th grade all-district

Favorite Band Memory:  All the different places I have gone with my best friends and always getting hurt somehow every year

Future Plans:  Attend UK to major in social work

Words of advice for the underclassmen:  Dream big!  We are a family and we will go far together.

Name:  Chad Cardwell

Favorite Band Memory:  Playing C sharp when younger trumpets are tuning to a C flat

Future Plans:  Go to WKU to study Civil Engineering

Words of advice for the underclassmen:  Keep your chins up and don’t ever give up.  Trumpets—Play out and play proud!

Name:  Bella Corona

Honors/Awards in Band:  Most improved concert player 2013, Color Guard Captain

Favorite Band Memory:  The feeling you get when you walk off the field and just know you have put on a great show

Future Plans:  Attend WKU and become a preschool or kindergarten teacher

Words of advice for the underclassmen:  Always have a good attitude and stay positive!  It will make your days much easier.  Remember that you’re not just a band, you’re a family.

Name:  Tristan Scott Thomas Elmore

All of the sweet ear candy concert percussion:  Timpani, marching bass drum, tenors and the occasional jaw harp.  Also, the student logistics crew member and unofficial drum tech

Honors/Awards in Band:  Most improved marcher 2010-11, best junior 2012-13

Favorite Band Memory:  The Cedar Point trip.  It was great to hang out and bond with other band friends!  The funniest part was when someone (you know who you are) was deemed the number one spot by a bird for its number two!

Future Plans:  Attend Eastern Kentucky University and major in fish and wildlife management and then a master’s degree in recreation and park administration

Words of advice for the underclassmen:  Believe in yourself!  The other band members, the staff, Mr. Ausbrooks, your parents—they believe in you so you should believe in yourself.  Stay real folks!

Favorite Band Memory:  The great and amazing friends I have made because of this family

Future Plans:  Go to WKU to major in music.  I plan on being the best band director a school has ever seen.

Words of advice for the underclassmen:  Band is a family, not a program so keep it that way and be yourself.  I’ll miss every one of your guys.  I love you all!

Future Plans:  Go to WKU or Murray State and major in pre-physical therapy, then on to UK for graduate school

Words of advice for the underclassmen:  Always keep your head up, keep smiling, and keep driving Mr. A crazy!

Favorite Band Memory:  when the band bus left me at Franklin Simpson after a competition.  Thanks Mr. A!  Also, when I served Ausbrooks a fresh brewed cup of tea….also known as olive juice…Payback!!!

Future Plans:  Attend an Art Institute out of state--major in fashion; minor in business.  Change the world one day at a time!

Words of advice for the underclassmen:  Wherever you go, go with all your heart!  The sky is your canvas and everything in between is your stage.

Favorite Band Memory:  Every single time I stood in “the circle” with my BEST friends all around me.  When we marched on the field at every competition and knew we were gonna blow people’s minds.

Future Plans:  Go to WKU for pre-dentistry and the UK for dentistry school.

Words of advice for the underclassmen:  Let’s make the best out of the rest of this year.  Together, we can accomplish amazing things.

Honors/Awards in Band:  Outstanding freshman and sophomore award

Favorite Band Memory:  Marching with Jordan, Trenton, and Tristan in Phantom Regiment.  Even though Carolina Crown is the best.

Future Plans:  Attend WKU and major in civil engineering

Words of advice for the underclassmen:  Heroes get remembered.  Legends never die.  Follow your heart and you’ll never go wrong.

Favorite Band Memory:  Singing “Don’t Stop Believing” in the circle because Mr. A’s speakers wouldn’t work.  It sounded terrible, but our hearts were in it!

Future Plans:  Go to college and pursue a career in radiology

Words of advice for the underclassmen:  Perform every show like it’s your last and leave it all on the field!

Words of advice for the underclassmen:  Don’t let the years and the special moments pass you by!  Senior year will be here before you know it!  No matter how many times you hear this…it’s about the moments you spend laughing, crying and performing with your brothers and sisters.
