Senator C.B. Embry's Legislative Update

The hustle and bustle of the winter holidays is well underway and the cool crispness of the autumn air is turning towards winter frost. Even as the weather changes and the holiday season comes upon us, we are still busy in Frankfort with interim joint committee meetings as well as planning for the 2017 Session of the General Assembly.

I am excited for what the New Year will bring for Kentucky. With a new Republican majority in the House and the Senate and a Republican governor, we hope to successfully pass some of our legislative priorities that have failed in the past. Many of these measures aim to make Kentucky more business- and family-friendly. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the Kentucky General Assembly to move Kentucky in the right direction.

Many of you are just as excited as I am that election season is over and we can shift our daily focus this season to friends, family, and our communities. As we enjoy our Thanksgiving meals, let us not forget those who do not have food on their table. ‘Tis the season of giving. Take this opportunity to donate your time and resources to a local food bank or shelter, and bring your family there with you.

We also must not forget our servicemen and women who are spending their holidays separated from their families—some as far away as the other side of the world. Keep these families in your prayers and offer them all the support you can. We live in trying times, but there is nothing a close-knit community cannot overcome together.

I wish you a safe and happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy your friends, family, and football. God Bless!
