Seinfeld at SKYPAC by: Andy Sullivan

Thursday night February 7, I went to the Southern Kentucky Performing Arts Center for, without a doubt, the biggest show to date for the venue, Jerry Seinfeld.  I’ve watched his show throughout its run, and have been a huge fan ever since.  Seeing Jerry in concert was pretty much a far-fetched dream.

Cruising the internet back in October/November 2012, I saw where he was coming to Bowling Green.  My jaw hit the floor; I knew I had to go.  Oddly enough, that was one of Jerry’s bits. He begins, “Jerry’s coming.  We gotta go! Then the night comes and you’re all “I don’t want to get out.  We have to get up, dress up, and sit in traffic.  Where are we going to eat? We’re going to need money.  What will we drink? Do we eat before or after the show”? Funny stuff! He also did a very funny routine about beverages.  Not many can do a bit about drinks and make it funny.

He also did several bits about marriage.  He mentioned he got married late in life (late 40’s). He made the distinction of married friends vs. single friends, as well as other funny observations about everyday life.  I was especially impressed that he took time out in his show to point out the great SKYPAC accommodations and the beautiful facility.

Comedian Mark Schiff opened the show with a 15 minute set starting at 7.  Mark was a very funny warm-up act.  His routine was made up of family life, everyday occurrences.  Both acts were very relatable.  I searched Mark on the internet earlier Thursday to get familiar with his act.  Turns out he’s been on just about every late night show in the past 20 years.

Before the show began, I ran into my friend Darla.  Turns out, there were quite a few from the surrounding area who came out to enjoy a great night of comedy, fairly clean comedy at that! The show sold out shortly after tickets went on sale.
