Seek God and His purpose for you

Tiffany Hampton and husband Mark.

I know I refer to my kids often. As I have stated before, they are my gifts from God. Many times they have taught me, rather than me always teaching them.

Well, this week my article was inspired by a rake! Yes, I said a rake. The weather was so nice outside, so I was doing some yard clean up work. Our rake had been left outside laying on the ground since last fall. I found it by the barn and brought it to the backyard where I was working. After making only a few swipes across the ground with it, it snapped. Not in the middle of the handle, but right where it connected to the rake itself.

So there I was with a wood handle in one hand and a plastic rake in the other - which led me to this thought.  If we sit back and miss our purpose or calling for the life God has given us, will we be any good? The purpose of that rake was to clean up my debris covered yard. It hasn't been used and taken care of properly, so it just laid there. In the meantime, grass had covered it and moisture soaked into the handle. Therefore, when I put pressure on it, it broke! It became disconnected from its source.

I feel that if we just go through this life not fulfilling our purpose, then we too become disconnected from our source...God. The worldly things soak into our hearts and minds. Therefore when the pressure is on, we break.

Seek God. Seek His purpose for you. Then use that purpose for the good of others.

God Bless.
