Scouting Report: Bears square off against Hancock Co. Hornets tonight

The Butler Co. Bears boys’ basketball team begins Region 3 tournament play taking on the Hancock Co. Hornets in first round play; tonight at the Sports

Center in Owensboro.

Here is an inside look at the Hancock Co. Hornets:

Hancock Co. High School Hornets, District 11 Champions. Overall record of 18-11 on the season; (10-8) in regional play, and an impressive (7-1) in district play. Hancock Co. is a senior-led veteran ball club. The Hornets return (4) starters from last year's squad who advanced to the Regional semi-finals. All (4) returning starters are seniors.

Hancock Co. style of play is to turn the game into a halfcourt game; and a defense that is suffocating. Hancock Co. game plan is to keep the game in the 60’s

or lower. The Hornets on the season are allowing opponents only (52) points per game. (13) opponents this season have been held to under (50) points. The

Hornets are led by head coach Michael Orr, in his 5th season at HCHS.

Game time is a 6 p.m. tip-off tonight at the Owensboro Sportscenter.
