School Systems Across the District 3 Area Begin to Start Back this Week

Motorists are advised to be on the lookout for school buses

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (Aug. 4, 2025) – Some school districts across the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 3 area are starting back this week, with the rest beginning over the next few weeks. Motorists should be aware that school buses will once again be making their rounds, traffic around schools will increase, and pedestrian activity will also pick up.

School buses will be on the road early in the morning and in the late afternoon. Please use caution in hard-to-see areas, such as hills and curves. Remember to not pass a school bus while it is loading or unloading. This process can take a few minutes, so please be patient.

Traffic near schools is also expected to increase. It is common for congestion to occur on roads near school zones, which can cause travel delays.

These delays typically happen at the same times each morning and afternoon when school is in session. Motorists are encouraged to adjust their travel schedules or routes to avoid these areas during peak traffic times.

Pedestrian traffic near schools is also expected to pick up. Please be mindful of pedestrians walking in the area, especially those crossing the street. Motorists are reminded that school zone flashers have been activated and lower speed limits exist during designated times.
