School Board travels to Green River School

The Butler County Board of Education met in regular session on Tuesday, September 11, at 6:30 p.m. at Green River School.  All board members were in attendance. Superintendent of Green River Youth Development Center, Greg Lundy, welcomed everyone in attendance and thanked them for coming.

District Finance Officer Eric Elms gave the monthly treasurer’s report. The beginning balance for August was $2,078,002.46.  The end-of-the-month balance was $1,653,001.45.

Superintendent Scott Howard informed the board of recent events he has attended, including the GRREC Board of Director’s Meeting and the Kentucky Farm Bureau Annual Ham Breakfast. Howard said Mr. Jeff Jennings and he attended the Butler County Middle School lock down drill last week.  He said the students did an excellent job and took it seriously. Superintendent Howard also informed the board of the following upcoming meetings and events:

·         Early Childhood Council Meeting- September 12, 9:00 a.m.

·         Third Region Superintendent’s Meeting- September 14, noon

·         Leadership Meeting- September 19, 9:00 a.m.

·         Morgantown Manners Meeting- September 24, noon

·         United Way Meeting- September 25, 1:30 p.m.

·         Legislative Breakfast- September 27, 7:30 a.m.

According to Assistant Superintendent Robert Tuck the district has received a grant for $49,221 to purchase science materials for grades three through eight as well as key-less entry pads at the high school to improve security. 

The board approved the following:

·         FY 19 LEA District Funding Assurances

·         FY 19 Consolidated Entitlement Funding Application

·         FY 19 Fund 2 Budgets

·         FY 19 Working Budget

·         FY 19 Fundraiser Requests for Butler County High, Butler County Middle, Morgantown Elementary, and North Butler Elementary Schools

·         FMLA Request for NBES Paraeducator

·         FY 19 School Year Leave of Absence for BCMS Teacher

·         Early Graduation Request for BCHS Student

·         Memorandum of Understanding through June, 2021, for Foster Grandparent Program

·         FY 19 KECSAC (GRS) Memorandum of Agreement and FY 19 Budgets

·         Houghton Science Grades 3-8 and Math Grades 3-5 Program

·         Keyless Entry for BCHS
