School Board: Johnson and Sanders take the oath of office, Board members recognized

The Butler County Board of Education met in regular session on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at 6:30 p.m. at the Education Complex.  Board members Ryan Daugherty, Debbie Hammers, Delbert Johnson, and Aimee Sanders were in attendance; Dr. Amy Hood was unable to attend. Assistant Superintendent Robert Tuck administered the oath of office to newly re-elected board members Delbert Johnson and Aimee Sanders.

 District Finance Officer Eric Elms gave the monthly treasurer’s report for December.  The beginning-of-the-month balance was $2,237,428.35.  The balance at the end of the month was $1,466,802.62.

January is School Board Recognition Month, and Superintendent Scott Howard recognized the board members, thanking them for their work on behalf of Butler County Schools. Howard said, “We are so fortunate to have the board we have. They oversee a multi-million dollar budget, and they base their decisions on what is best for the kids in Butler County.”  Butler County Middle School Principal Tim Freeman presented each board member a gift on behalf of all the schools.

In the Superintendent’s Report, Mr. Howard informed the board that he attended SKYPAC “Blues in Schools” program at Morgantown Elementary School, the monthly chamber of commerce meeting, and the annual Kentucky Association of School Superintendents Conference.  He said he will attend the Green River Regional Education Cooperative Legislative Day on January 30 and invited the board members to attend as well.

 Assistant Superintendent Robert Tuck presented the mid-year Director of Pupil Personnel report.  Tuck said, “Our attendance is running one and a half percent higher than this time last year, comparing January 2018 to January 2019.  All our attendance data is trending up, which is good. If you look at this year at Christmas break we had 2,031 students. Last year at Christmas break we had 1,996”.

·        FY 20 Draft Working Budget

·        FY 18 Nutrition and Physical Activity Report Card

·        FY 19 Butler County Schools Comprehensive Improvement Plan

·        Early Graduation for a BCHS Senior
