On Friday of last week, members of the General Richard Butler chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution presented to Morgantown Utilities a certificate recognizing them for properly displaying the American flag on a daily basis. Butler County Fiscal Court and courthouse employees were recently honored as well during the flag day program on the courthouse lawn. Future recipients are chosen by the chapter at its regular monthly meetings.

According to the national web site, the SAR is a "lineage" society. This means that each member has traced his family tree back to a point of having an ancestor who supported the cause of American Independence during the years 1774-1783.
