Rogers receives All-State honors

Amy Rogers and John Embry

Butler County Softball senior catcher Amy Rogers was recently selected Class 2A Second Team All-State for her softball accomplishments during the 2014 season. The announcement was made by the Kentucky Softball Coaches' Association last month and was voted on by softball coaches across the state.

Rogers' selection was the second for Butler County in the last several years.  Former BCHS pitcher CheyAnne Gaskey, now playing at Murray State, was a three-time selection - once Honorable Mention and twice on First Team.

"This is a great honor for Amy," said BCHS coach John Embry.  "Amy is more than deserving of this recognition considering her season and career stats, as well as her impact on our softball program and in our region/district."

Rogers was named Most Valuable Player at the team's annual banquet, as well as winning several other award categories.  She will continue her playing career at Lindenwood-Belleville University in Illinois, where she signed earlier this year.

Meanwhile, Embry was also selected to coach in the Kentucky East-West All-Star game that was held at Ballard High School in Louisville June 13-15.  It was his fourth time to coach during the annual KY All-Star weekend.  Coach Embry was also tapped as one of four coaches to lead the Kentucky Senior All-Star team in a three-game series against its Tennessee counterparts.  That series, which Kentucky won, was held June 26 at the WKU Softball Complex in Bowling Green.  Embry just completed his 13th season as head softball coach at Butler County High School.
