Rochester Family Fun Night

Last Friday night, the City of Rochester entertained the community with an impressive fireworks display at dusk. Mayor Martha Roe thanked their Volunteer Fire Department for safely setting off the fireworks.

The Ladies League, along with several citizens and City Council members, supplied the deserts, and there were free hot dogs, chips, and soda for everyone. Martha commented it was nice to see families outside enjoying themselves again.

The entertainment by Music with Murphy included a great lineup, Paylin Smith, Evan Darsey, Ellie Neighbors, Maggie Childers, Emma Hawkins, and Lydia Murphy.

Rochester is in the western part of Butler County on Highway 70. The famous Rochester Dam on the winding Green River has been the subject of many photographs, songs, and paintings over the years. They also have one of the few operating ferries in the state; many people use it for work or traveling to Beaver Dam.

On a sad note, there is a $ 500.00 reward for information leading to the safe return of their Welcome sign stolen on July 8th. Call the Butler County Sheriff's Department with any information, 270-526-3676.

The Rochester Festival will return this year and the 5K along the beautiful Green River Road on October 2nd. You can check out their Facebook page, City of Rochester, Kentucky.
