Rochester awarded over 136K to pave all city streets

The City of Rochester is proud to announce they have been awarded funding ($136,281.00) to pave all the city streets in Rochester.

"We would like to thank Governor Beshear and the Kentucky Department of Transportation for giving us the opportunity to apply and receive the discretionary funding. This is quite an accomplishment for the city.  In the last 3 years all the city streets and highways have and/or will be newly paved,"said Mayor Martha Roe.

Paving companies are not able to pave in cold weather, so it will be spring before paving will start.

Governor Andy Beshear announced more than $9 million in funding from KYTC to 30 communities for improvement of local streets and roads.

“Transportation infrastructure is more than just interstate highways and massive bridges,” said Gov. Beshear. “For most people, day in and day out, the most important infrastructure is the streets and roads that lead to their front door or school or work place. The funding we’re announcing today helps our city and county governments maintain those vital local routes.”

The funding – $9,246,953 – will reimburse 19 counties and 11 cities for work such as pavement repair, resurfacing and drainage ditching on roadways that were rated in poor condition.
