Ribbon Cutting at the Morgantown Mission

On Thursday April 11th, a crowd gathered at the new Morgantown Mission building despite the elements to be a part of the grand opening ceremony. The Morgantown Mission has been an active staple in the community for many years and has been housed in multiple locations.

"I would like to especially thank the volunteers at the Morgantown Mission that have worked selflessly over the years to bring the Mission to where it is today," said Garry McKinney, the director of the Morgantown Mission.   The process to permit and build the building has been going on for about a year according to McKinney.

"This has been a long process and I want to thank all of you and the board. Everybody in the community, from Morgantown Bank to the local politicians. You don't know how much I've appreciated it. It's just been a wonderful thing. We are just here to serve the community and to help the people. This building is going to allow us to do that much more efficiently." said McKinney before commencing the ribbon cutting.

Mayor Keown was also present and shares her thoughts.

"We are all happy as a community to have this group here. I think it lets us donate and give, and allows someone else to come in and use these things," said Keown.

Punch and refreshments were served in the food pantry building following the ceremony.
