Rep. C.B. Embry, Jr. Participates in Groundbreaking for Walter T. Kelley Postsecondary Education Building

Representative C.B. Embry, Jr. joined with local leaders and others, including Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center CEO Steve Meredith, and Dr. Thelma White, President of Elizabethtown Community and Technical College,  in breaking ground on the new Walter T. Kelley Postsecondary Education Building on Thursday, June 7th.  The groundbreaking  took place at the building site located on Wallace Avenue, Leitchfield.

The new facility is the result of a partnership between Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center, Elizabethtown Community and Technical College, and Grayson County.  The $1.7 million facility is being funded by a $1 million donation from the hospital through the estate of Walter T. Kelley, the former owner of the Walter T. Kelley Company which specializes in beekeeping supplies.  The late Mr. Kelley left his estate to the hospital after his passing in 1986.

The facility is 11,500 square feet and is scheduled to be completed mid-2013. The building will include classrooms, computer labs, a testing center, a conference room and faculty and administrative offices.

The campus was designed by Jerry W. Herndon and James Davis of Lexington. The contractor is Alliance Corp.
