The Butler County Spelling Bee, hosted by the Butler County Retired Teachers and Butler County Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, for students up to grade 8 was held on Tuesday, February 18, 2014. The winner of the 2014 County Spelling Bee was North Butler Elementary 5th grade student, Rayna Beller, daughter of Eric and Cyndi Beller of Aberdeen.

The second place winner was Morgantown Elementary 5th grader, Hayden Hodge, son of Jennifer and Jeff Kurfiss of Morgantown. Third place winner was Butler County Middle School 8th grader, Conner Lawrence son of Elizabeth Smith of Rochester and Derek Lawrence of Bowling Green. The winner was presented with a certificate and $25.00 cash award provided by the Butler County Chapter of the DAR. Beller will compete in the Kentucky Derby Festival Spelling Bee to be held at the Kosair Shrine Club at Spaulding University on Saturday, March 15, 2014.
