Raymer appointed to CSG South Human Services and Public Safety Committee
Frankfort, Kentucky (January 29, 2025) – Representative Rebecca Raymer of Morgantown was appointed to serve on The Council of State Governments South (CSG) Human Services and Public Safety Committee, House Speaker David Osborne announced this week.
“I’m so grateful for the opportunity to serve on The Council for State Governments Human Services and Public Safety Committee and to collaborate with fellow legislators on critical policy issues,” said Rep. Raymer. “One of the most important challenges facing our communities across the Commonwealth is healthcare, and I look forward to working with leaders from across the southern region to find solutions that improve access to quality healthcare and health outcomes for Kentuckians.”
The Council of State Governments’ Human Services and Public Safety Committee is responsible for developing policy recommendations related to social services and public protection, and facilitating the exchange of knowledge and best practices among state legislators.
The goal of CSG South is to connect, inform, and inspire state governments to put the best ideas and solutions into effect. The CSG South office is a non-partisan organization, and is the largest of the four regions operating under The Council of State Governments. The mission of CSG South is to promote and strengthen intergovernmental cooperation among their 15 member states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia. Predominately, this is achieved through the ongoing work of committees, the Executive Committee, and five additional standing committees.
“Kentucky’s participation in the Council of State Governments provides both resources and an opportunity to collaborate with our legislative colleagues throughout the region,” Speaker Osborne added. “We learn a great deal about what worked and what failed in other states and it is more important than ever that we work together. The issues we face in areas like education, health care, energy resilience, and economic development, don’t recognize state boundaries.”
Raymer currently serves as a member of the Budget Review Subcommittee on Health and Family Services; Health Services; Licensing, Occupations, and Administrative Regulations; Local Government; and State Government Committees.
