Quilts of Valor

Veterans Connie Greathouse, Larry Wilson, Sharone Nash, Mike Porter, and Doug Odle

The Butler County Piece Makers, Darlene Scott, Jennifer Odle, Ruth Ann Hunt and Kay Hampton, came together to honor veterans and service members with Quilts of Valor.

The quilts consist of 63 large blocks.  Darlene designs and cuts out the blocks.  The Piece Makers piece the quilts together then pay to have them quilted.  Sue Abbot, of Rochester, is currently the quilter, completing the projects at half the cost she would normally receive.  he work is all volunteer, and the material for the quilts is either donated or purchased with donated funds.

Jennifer Odle, from Butler County Piecemakers, recognized Quilt of Valor recipients during the Veterans program at Butler County High School on Friday.  They are:  Sharone Nash, Doug Odle, Ernie Lee Hatcher, Jim Cartwright, Michael W. Porter, Robert Estaver, Boyd Truelove, Don McKinney, Troy Abbott, Danny Mitchell, Wendell C. Embry, Connie Holman Greathouse, and Larry Wilson.

Odle describe the quilts as a "project of the heart" and thanked Darlene Scott for her work in getting the organization started.
