The 2022 BCHS Bears Football preseason workouts are underway daily as scrimmages and the regular season are quickly approaching. 

Here are quick facts to look at the 2022 varsity BCHS Football program. 

Head Coach: Brandon Embry (5th season) 

Class 2A/District 2:  Butler County, Todd County, Hancock County, McLean County, Owensboro Catholic 

2021 Record: (6-4) overall; was #4 seed in postseason 

2021:  Lost (7) seniors to graduation 

2022:  Returning (27) underclassmen, (9) incoming Freshman 

The Bears began full-gear drills on Monday, August 1.  This is the first date for full gear practices as set by the KHSAA.  

Butler County will be away at Franklin Simpson HS on Friday, August 5, for their first controlled scrimmage. The scrimmage will be a tri-scrimmage consisting of Franklin Simpson, Hart County and Butler County.  The scrimmage begins at 6 p.m.  

Typically, in a controlled scrimmage format there is no score, no kicking game or very limited. Controlled scrimmages focus on as many reps as possible for both offense and defense, usually in a format of ten offensive plays, ten defensive plays then rotate out in a three-team scrimmage.  Controlled scrimmages also gives coaching staffs an opportunity to look at as many players as possible in the time allotted.
