Psychedelic Mushroom Growing Operation Discovered In BG

The Bowling Green – Warren County Drug Task Force was contacted by the 19th Judicial Drug Task Force in Clarksville, TN on May 30, 2012. Using information developed by the 19th Judicial DTF and additional investigation by the Bowling Green – Warren County Drug Task Force a search warrant was obtained for 317 Cedar Ridge Road in Bowling Green.  The warrant was executed at 5:15 PM, May 30, 2012 by DTF Detectives with assistance from the Bowling Green Police Department and Kentucky State Police.

During the search 4.2 pounds of finished psychedelic mushrooms where seized which has a street value of $16,000. An additional 22 large tubs of growing psychedelic mushrooms were also seized (value yet to be determined).  Additional equipment used in the growing operations was also seized.  Detectives had to use tyvek suits and respirators to remove much of the evidence from the house due to the possibility of lung infections from the mold in the growing process.

The growing operation was only three blocks from McNeill Elementary School and the main campus of WKU.

Based on the now joint investigation and the size of this operation we believe this was the base of distribution for not only South Central Kentucky but also North Central Tennessee.

The resident of 317 Cedar Ridge Road, Robert D. Robinson, age 36, is charged with trafficking in psychedelic mushrooms in Tennessee, by the 19th Judicial Drug Task Force, where he is in custody.  The Bowling Green based growing operation investigation will be presented to the Warren County Grand Jury in the near future for indictment. It is an ongoing investigation.

This is the largest psychedelic mushroom growing operation discovered in Bowling Green or Warren County in the last 30 years.
