Price becomes 3rd Region's all-time leading scorer in Bears' win

MORGANTOWN — Senior guard Ty Price became the 3rd Region's all-time leading scorer in Butler County's 88-68 win over 12th District rival Edmonson County on Thursday, Feb. 13. 

Price scored a game-high 31 points for the Bears. He now has 3,161 points in his high school career. Previously, Corky Withrow (Central City, 1952-1956) held the 3rd Region scoring record with 3,136 points. 

Butler County started strong, outscoring Edmonson County 22-8 in the opening quarter.

The Bears led 50-25 at halftime and remained in control throughout the second half.

Butler County led 67-51 at the conclusion of the third quarter. 

Joining Price in double figures for Butler County, Justin Castlen scored 20 points, Trever Deweese netted 16 points and Briar Griffin posted 14 points.

Rounding out Butler County's scoring, Case Hooten added four points and Curtis Murphy contributed three points. 

With the win, Butler County improved to 15-12 overall and 5-1 in the 12th District. 

Justin Castlen has scored over 1,000 points in his career.
