Positive Directions Ribbon Cutting

On Wednesday April 1, a new business in Morgantown conducted a formal ribbon cutting ceremony. The business, entitled "Positive Directions" is an adult daycare facility for individuals that have mental and/or physical disabilities.

Although not as large of a facility as the former Adult Day Care facility, Positive Directions plans to have 15-25 regular visitors at their facility, beginning as early as Monday April 6.

Shortly before the ribbon cutting, business proprietor Carrie West gave a short tour of the facility. The facility includes a lobby area, an arts & crafts room, a movie and video game room, a traditional board game room, and a 1950's diner themed cafeteria area.

Having come from a position at the former Adult Day Care center in Morgantown, West felt the need for a similar facility in the community.

"My husband and I decided to bring a facility like this back to the community", said West.

The facility is partnered with the Michelle P. Waiver Program, a home and community based waiver program with Kentucky Medicaid. It's developed as an alternative to insti tutional care for people with intellectual or developmental disabilities.

Positive Directions is located in the Rose Plaza on Hwy 231.
