PHIL'S PHILOSOPHY By: D.P Kinkade Contributions by: Taylor & Drake Kinkade

BLANK CANVAS -A while back now, two people whom I considered kindred spirits, left this world behind. One of them was a favorite author of mine whose words truly inspired, intrigued and challenged me. He was one of the first to let me know I was not alone with the questions I was wrestling with and he started me on a journey that lead to several others, whom have shaped my life in a transforming way. I never met him in person but have friends whom have and they say he was indeed ennobling and thoughtful in person. The other was a lady whom I have known about for a long time, through numerous art pieces displayed throughout our community, I had only come to know her personally just a few years ago but can attest to the fact that she had wisdom to spare and a heart even bigger than her talent. The world has lost a bit of its inspiration with these folks gone, so it is to them that I dedicate this to.

BLANK CANVAS

There is nothing there; only a blank canvas, a white page,
a yet to be sculpted piece of stone or clay.
Ah! but in the eye, the mind, the heart, the soul
lies, POTENTIAL! the spirit known as holy; whispers, in the stillness.
The painters brush, the writers pen, the master violinist's bow,
unlocks the music, written already but hidden; unless you know, how to listen.
Time, an illusion of brevity, lulls a soul to hibernation,
Eternity beckons, shattering the illusion; peek behind the curtain,
grasp the Creators hand, a masterpiece awaits construction.
Small changes; a turn of phrase, a color choice, inspiration forgotten;
transforms what could have been, into something unrecognizable.
Wisdom was there when time began; an abyss yet to be realized.
The image; in the likeness of the Creator; the human soul; the canvas chosen.

Life is brevity defined but it is all I know and lonesomeness invades eternity's territory,
what is done or said in a brief moment, sends ripples throughout all of time bully's taunt or thoughtless exclusion, dims possibility.
The wooden boards in the classroom, meant to intimidate, proudly displayed, scar the soul.
Rigidity in structure, hands raised, silence enforced,
conformity emphasized; instead of empathy,
stamp the life out of the creative child's soul.

Can you find it? can you spot it? a beautiful masterpiece began ,
when Creation began; as light.
Each soul; each life; a masterpiece, by design!
