Patty Craig: A Slice of Time

Are you ready to spring forward? In many ways, we live by the clock. And, we often complain about time – for one reason or another.

Some thoughts about time are expressed below:
•    I don't mind going back to daylight saving time. With inflation, the hour will be the only thing I've saved all year. -Victor Borge
•    Procrastination is the thief of time. -Edward Young
•    Time is God’s way of keeping everything from happening at once. –Anon
•    I recommend you to take care of the minutes, for hours will take care of themselves. -Philip Dormer Stanhope
•    It was the best of times, it was the worst of times…-Charles Dickens
•    Time is the great physician. -Benjamin Disraeli Endymion
•    Lost time is never found again. -Benjamin Franklin
•    Remember that time is money. -Benjamin Franklin
•    Time is on my side, yes it is. -Mick Jaggar
•    Nothing lasts forever – not even your troubles. -Arnold H Glasgow
•    The surest way to be late is to have plenty of time. -Leo Kennedy
•    Time and tide wait for no man. –Unknown
•    Tough times never last, but tough people do! -Robert Schuller
•    The times they are a-changing. -Bob Dylan

People often joke about time:
•    Twice a year, we change the clocks for daylight-savings time. And twice a year, my normally punctual assistant arrives late to work the Monday after we do so. I finally had to find out why.
"Do you have a problem remembering to spring forward or fall back?" I asked.
"Oh, no," she said, pouring herself a cup of coffee.
"What gets to me is staying up until 2 a.m. to change all my clocks."
•    A little girl was school shopping with her mom. She saw her mom ask a stranger if she had the time. The stranger answered, “Sure. It’s 11:00.”
The little girl thought it was great that people were so helpful. So, later in the day she asked someone if he had the time. “Sure, sweetie. It’s 11:15,” he answered. The little girl grew suspicious. So, she asked someone else. “It’s 11:18,” she answered.
Frustrated, the little girl exclaimed, “Mom! Why does everyone keep giving me a different answer than you got?”

Ready or not, Daylight Savings Time will begin next Sunday (the second Sunday of March) and will end on the first Sunday of November. As Ecclesiastes 8:6 (NIV) says, “For there is a proper time … for every matter….” And now, it’s time to spring forward.
