Patty Craig: A Slice of Time
Our local schools’ fall break is quickly approaching. Since fall breaks became common in Kentucky, I’ve noticed that many families plan fall day trips, vacations, or activities in October. Many also choose fall to complete projects around the home. Fall is a busy time.
Thinking about how people plan fall activities, I asked friends and family: “The schools will have a fall break soon, and many plan family activities in the fall. Do you have any special fall plans for a day trip, a vacation, or an activity?” Their responses are listed below.
-Hoping to go to the mountains some time in the fall.
-Sports, sports, and more sports!
-Fall break is the biggest week of the year for Northside Kennels. We work all week so everyone else can vacation with ease while leaving their fur babies with us.
-Planning a vacation to Orlando for a few days at Universal theme parks then back home to enjoy Cruising the Coast (Crusin’ The Coast®).
-No plans this fall.
-I don’t have any special plans. I’m just ready to enjoy fall. I love to decorate for it. There might be a day trip for the grandkids.
-My family takes a trip to the beach every fall break. It is a wonderful time to unwind, as well as really connect with each other. Our lives are very busy, especially now that the children are getting older. Our oldest has a job, and our youngest has sports, so we don’t get to have as much family time throughout the school year. Fall break is our opportunity to reconnect and make goals and plans for our family for the rest of the year (until next fall break). The whole family looks forward to the trip and starts planning in the spring for where we will stay and what we will do.
-No fall plans.
-I’m going to Florida with my friend’s family.
-Girls’ trip and fix up my house.
-We’re headed to the Smokies in late October.
-Our son gets a whole week off for fall break. We’re going to Universal. Some family members are flying down to meet us there. Our daughter who is serious about the college classes she doesn’t want to miss will be home dog sitting.
-I have nothing planned other than a family cook out and hayride which has become a fall tradition – my fall extravaganza.
-We are going on a camping trip to the Smokey Mountains.
-I plan to do some house clean outs and clean up this fall.
-We don’t travel, but we love to hit a few of the local fall festivals and always do a hayride to a pumpkin patch.
-We plan to go visit Bardstown during the Bourbon Festival. Tickets are sold out, but the sights and discount shopping will be nice.
-I have a road trip planned and also want to get my yard and plants ready for winter.
Fall, especially October, is typically a colorful time with moderate temperatures. One of the prettiest times of the year is when leaves change their colors. Even though fall can be busy, I hope everyone enjoys the season – at home or away.
