Patty Craig: A Slice of Time

Words of others or quotes can be helpful. Life’s experiences may cause us to relate to certain quotes. When facing a difficult path, encouraging and motivational quotes can give us strength. And people often use quotes as inspiration to start a new path, to stay positive, or to stay the course.

Thinking about how people relate to quotes, I asked friends and family, “What is your favorite quote?” Their responses are below, and some people listed two or more.

-God is good!

-A woman’s work is never done.

-John F. Kennedy’s “Ask not what your country can do for you…” speech.

-To my children: I will always love you, but I may not always like what you do.

-If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.

-That your faith should not rest in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

-Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s life. ~Mark Twain, Innocents Abroad

A favorite quote may be something a loved one said, a Bible verse, advice someone gave, or something written or heard that resonated. Life experiences may affect our choice of favorites. Do you have a favorite quote?
