Patty Craig; A Slice Of Time

Even though this has been a unique year, the seasons still provide some predictability. Our summer season is coming to a close, and autumn officially begins September 22nd. Many say that fall is their favorite season, and most of us enjoy some fall activities.

Thinking along those lines, I questioned friends and family, “Fall is just a couple of weeks away. What fall activities are you looking forward to?” Their responses are listed below:

-Fire pit star gazing.

-Cooler weather. It’s hot down here on the coast.

-Visiting orchards, haunted houses and the weather!

-Letting the kids pick out their pumpkins at an orchard and warm apple cider.

-I can’t wait to make all the soups and chilies! I also love apple picking in Jackson’s Orchard; fall décor in my house; cinnamon, apple and pumpkin candles; and watching spooky movies!

-Chili! And I love fall decorations, fall weather, fall clothing…. I just love fall. It’s my favorite. I told my husband this week that when the temps drop, we are having chili. I may get some fall decorations out this weekend.

-We love to go to the pumpkin patch, have friends over to carve pumpkins, bonfires, soup suppers, and our beach trip in the fall.

-The decorations and the beautiful fall foliage, etc. I love decorating with pumpkins and mums!

-Well, an unusual fall. Mentally, I’m still waiting for summer to start. Fall is my favorite time, so I can’t wait to wear hoodies, be outside with crunchy leaves, bake pumpkin pies and hopefully relax.

-Make chili, visit an orchard, carve a pumpkin, make a pumpkin pie (with Splenda), complete fall quarter and begin winter quarter classes, and take a motorcycle ride.

-I love the colors of fall and decorations of mums, pumpkins, hay and corn stalks. The air smells different, warm days and cool nights. I am definitely ready for homemade chili and soup! As far as activities, we enjoy all the fall activities. But of course, Covid-19 has already canceled some of them.

-I haven’t thought that far ahead. I’m on a day-to-day schedule: it’s called living on COVID time!

-My daughter said she’s looking forward to not sweating her butt off. In addition to the weather change, I’m looking forward to cruising the coast and the Peter Anderson Festival.

-I look forward to visiting an orchard and making cold-weather food, like soups and ciders. Also, Halloween is my favorite holiday, so I love haunted houses!

-I look forward to the cool early mornings on my porch drinking a cup of coffee and hearing only nature’s voices.

-Making soups and bonfires.

-Bonfires, annual trips to Jackson’s Orchid and wearing my hoodies.

-I’m excited for bonfires, haunted houses, and enjoying the weather.

-Making chili and pumpkin doughnuts, watching the leaves change, planting some new things in my flower garden, and sipping warm cider on the patio.

-I look forward to the chill that allows sweaters, the crunch of leaves under my feet, and smoke in the air from bonfires.

-Bon fires and Halloween.

-Cooler temperatures and fall candle scents!

-Cooler weather, the leaves changing, and of course football!

-I look forward to decorating with mums, gourds and pumpkins, drinking pumpkin spice coffee, smelling fall candles, eating soup for days, wasting time sitting around the fire pit, and spending cooler days riding 4-wheelers at the cabin.

-Cool weather, bon fires, decorating, the leaves changing colors, pumpkin spice smell, and carving pumpkins.

-I look forward to leaves changing, eating soups, hot cocoa, football, and dressing up for Halloween.

Personally, I like the fall colors. Someone said, “A fallen leaf is nothing more than a summer’s wave goodbye” (https://www.inc.com/peter-economy/17-heart-warming-quotes-to-prepare-you...). I also like fall decorations (already on my to-do list). The coming weeks will likely bring comfort foods, hot drinks, and warmer clothing. And I expect the fall season to provide some beautiful scenery.
