Patty Craig: A Slice of Time

For the last two weeks my nephew, Ryan Craig (publisher of the Todd County Standard), has written articles about “what we should do first when we get out of here. Travel stories for the mind, if you will….” His articles caused me to think about what I want to do after the pandemic guidelines are no longer needed.

Wondering what others would want to do, I asked friends and family, “What is something you look forward to doing when the pandemic guidelines are no longer needed?” Their responses are listed below:

-I look forward to visiting my family.

-Hugging my grandmother! And hopefully, spending time with my extended family.

-Going to the movies and out to eat.

-Photographing sports again.

-Getting together with friends and going to regular church service.

-Go out to eat with everyone and sit down.

-I am looking forward to celebrating graduating from middle school with my friends!

-I look forward to spending time with friends!

-Going out to eat and to the movies.

-Hanging out and grilling with friends.

-Worship.

-Going to the beach or just out to eat.

-Being able to hug, kiss and love on my children and grandchildren! Being in church sharing fellowship with my church family. Having opportunities to say hello and talk with friends and neighbors when I see them. This is something we take for granted every day, but not anymore because it’s a privilege – definitely a blessing to have these freedoms.

-I’m thinking these guidelines will be around for a long, long time, but I most miss eating out with friends and going to a movie.

-I want to go sit down and eat at Texas Roadhouse.

-Going to visit relatives.

-Hanging out with my best friend!

-Hugging my grandchildren!

-Going to Mom’s for a visit. Also, hugging people.

-Hugging my mom and sisters, and going to see my grandmother.

Khalil Gibran said, “Yesterday is but today’s memory, and tomorrow is today’s dream” (https://www.brainyquote.com/topics/dreams-quotes). I believe looking forward to the future – having hope – is healthy. In the not-too-distant future, I hope we can travel at will without contributing to the sad effects of COVID-19.
