Patty Craig: A Slice of Time

Everyone deserves to spoil themselves once in a while. And depending on what we think of as a treat, there are many ways to spoil ourselves. Some people plan a special day, practice self-care, or treat themselves in some way. Personally, I enjoy scented candles, having abundant reading material, and keeping a variety of hot teas on hand.

Wondering how others pamper themselves, I asked friends and family, “How do you spoil yourself?” Their responses are listed below:

-By getting a manicure and pedicure every few weeks.

-Go to the mountains and shop, eat and chill.

-Morning run, Starbucks Caramel Macchiato, and Maker’s Mark.

-I guess getting my nails done, getting massages, and coloring my roots – among other things.

-Getting my nails done!

-My daughter says I don’t. But since retirement, I enjoy sleeping in on rainy days!

-I spoil myself with massages and pedicures every three or four months, perfumes a few times a year, and new gel polish colors way too often. Also, trips and heels, and really when I think about it, I need to re-do my budget.

-Dillard’s clothing sales, hunting equipment, and a new truck every 20 years.

-Dinner or a movie. Or both if I’m feeling really extravagant.

-Shop.

-By getting a pedicure.

-Monthly massage and nails.

-Taking trips/vacations.

-I guess the only real thing that I spoil myself with is Coke. I make sure I never run out!

-Probably my biggest indulgence is traveling with girlfriends. My small indulgences are shopping for art supplies and then getting to play with them.

-Participating in a thoroughly enjoyed activity in an unexpected (or extra time) timeframe.

-I don’t really spoil myself.

-I spoil myself with long-g-g-g-g showers.

-My house stays festively decorated with snowmen until spring, and we go to movie theaters frequently, using a membership for discounted tickets. I enjoy both very much!

-I ride (dirt bikes) to spoil myself.

Joyce Meyer said, “Many people in the western world are spoiled by the conveniences of our culture” (https://www.brainyquote.com/topics/spoiled-quotes). That may be true, but everyone deserves an occasional treat. So, let’s spoil ourselves now and again – it might make us happier people.
