Patty Craig: A Slice of Time

The 4th of July reminds me of my freedom. Coretta Scott King said, “Freedom is never really won, you earn it and win it in every generation” (https://www.brainyquote.com/topics/freedom). While ‘freedom’ may mean something different to each of us, I think of freedom as being able to take reasonable action without fear of punishment.

Wondering how others thought of their freedom, I asked friends and family: “When or where do you feel most free?” Their responses are listed below:

    ·         Freedom isn’t free, so I tend to cherish my freedom when I hear the national anthem or celebrate Memorial Day and the 4th of July. But              I feel most free when I’m watching the world go by on my front porch.

  • ·

Home floating in the pool on a hot day.

    ·

I feel most free when I am alone – about 5:30 in the morning I am not having to be anything to anyone.

    ·

    In the U.S.A.

    ·

I feel most free at the cabin.

    ·

    At home.

    ·

I feel the most freedom when I’m at church in worship. The assembling together to openly worship is a privilege many do not have.

    ·

When I am riding my 4-wheeler on the farm.

    ·

I feel free when on vacation or the back of a motorcycle.

    ·

I feel free when I’m on vacation or at the cabin or on the pontoon. I can feel free when I’m taken in by a great song or completely immersed in a good book. Also, when I’m in church worshiping and hear everyone around me worshiping, I feel free.

    ·

I feel free when I’m at home, at church, at my Mama’s and at my Grandmother’s.

    ·

I feel most free when I’m on my deck drinking coffee or tea and watching nature.

·

George W. Bush said, “I believe that God has planted in every heart the desire to live in freedom”. I agree with Bush and am thankful for our freedom as well as for those who guard it. May God continue to bless our nation.
