Patty Craig: A Slice of Time

January marks a new beginning. Oprah Winfrey once said, “Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right” (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/topics/topic_newyears.html). With a new year, many feel hopeful about the fresh start or look forward to specific events.

I asked friends and family what they most look forward to in 2016. Their responses are listed below:
•    Duck season.
•    Watching my daughter grow and decorating my bedroom.
•    A new year to me is always a fresh start, a completely clean slate. I always try to pray that God would bless the year, and I always look forward to what He has in store for me and my family. Maybe that’s not very original, but no matter how bad or good I think the previous year has been, I look forward to what’s coming.
•    Good health for family, everyone employed, and a Democratic president!
•    Becoming a mamma!
•    Better health for family and friends.
•    I look forward to watching my daughter grow and succeed and to making new memories with my friends and family.
•    The birth of my second child.
•    At this point in my life, an ending and a beginning. But, I think this is true for many people because change happens to all. So, I guess the real answer is that I am looking forward to the opportunity and the challenge of making the best of my change. The possibilities.
•    My two best friends’ weddings!
•    In 2016, I am most looking forward to my sister’s wedding.
•    Opportunities to show God’s love to all I meet always and to help lead others to eternal life in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
•    I am looking forward to several things this year. Two things on my mind lately are the EMT course I will be taking and the expansion work our church will be doing.
•    I’m looking forward to making memories with my friends and family and seeing what adventures lay ahead for my children and grandchildren.
•    I’m looking forward to big life changes in 2016 since I’m getting married!

During 2016, I look forward to many things. I want to watch the seasons change throughout the year – a simple blessing of life. I look forward to time with family and friends and witnessing their important events. On a more ordinary note, I will enjoy doing home maintenance projects. And, I am eager to see how our church will grow and work in the community. The year is filled with possibilities.

Walt Whitman said, “The future is no more uncertain than the present” (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/topics/topic_future2.html). We can’t know what today – or the year – may hold. But, my wish for you is a very blessed year.
