Patty Craig: A Slice of Time

After reading my last year’s project list, I made a new one. I had marked off most of the 2013 tasks, but some just didn’t get done. So, I added those unfinished tasks to my 2014 list (They still need to be done!).

Some thoughts about accomplishments are listed below:
•    It had long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things. -Leonardo da Vinci
•    You have to remember that the hard days are what make you stronger. The bad days make you realize what a good day is. If you never had any bad days, you would never have that sense of accomplishment! -Aly Raisman
•    The supreme accomplishment is to blur the line between work and play. –Arnold J. Toynbee (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/keywords/accomplishment.html#MCPahS7KK...)

After considering my project list, I wondered what others’ to-do lists might include. I asked friends and family, “What’s something you’d like to accomplish this year?” I received the following replies:
•    I have a list. Of all those things, the list becomes the accomplishment in itself – just to cross out as many as possible. The list never ends. My mother always told me, “You need to accomplish something every day, no matter how big or small.”
•    To be accepted to a school.
•    Plant a garden.
•    Paint the fence.
•    I want to get my 5K under 30 minutes.
•    (Husband) Win the lottery!
•    (Wife) Win the lottery!
•    To get our new house in order and everything put away with rooms decorated, and then to enjoy it all every day!
•    Learn some stress management skills.
•    Get hubby to finish painting the garage.
•    Settle down into a house.
•    Go through closets, drawers, cabinets, etc., and get rid of stuff and organize things better to have more space to store things and more room.
•    Get married.
•    Finish at least a few of the unfinished projects I have begun, and get some exercise. That should keep me busy for a while!
•    I want to lose weight and save money, of course – along with everyone else. But, I also want to cook more meals at home, sit at the kitchen table for supper, and spend more time with my son doing things like reading to him, practicing his writing, and making crafts.
•    Finish my Master’s Degree – probably will be December.

Most accomplishments require some time and effort. Jim Rohn explained this by saying, “Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishment” (http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/keywords/accomplishment.html#MCPahS7KK...). So, I either need discipline or a shorter list.
