Patty Craig: A Slice of Time
Like others, occasionally I’ve wondered, “What is my purpose in life?” Pastor and author Rick Warren teaches that our meaning in this life comes from understanding and fulfilling God's purposes for putting us on earth. Some thoughts about life are listed below:
• There is a purpose to our lives that each day tugs at our sleeve as an annoying distraction. – Robert Brault
• Begin each day as if it were on purpose. – Author Unknown
• The purpose of life is to contribute in some way to making things better. – Robert F. Kennedy
• We are not on this earth to just stand still & look pretty. The museums already have enough statues. – Mandy Hale
• I'm starting to think this world is just a place for us to learn that we need each other more than we want to admit. – Richelle E. Goodrich
• Life without a purpose is like an unsharpened pencil; it has no point. – Eraica Chan
• Granddad once told me that to truly love this life, you need to know its darkest corners. But if you can bring a bit of sunshine to the sunless, it can only be for the good. I mean, what else are we really here for on this earth? – Gareth Thompson
• …The proper function of man is to live, not to exist; I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them; I shall USE my time. – Jack London
• When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced; live your life so that when you die, the world cries and you rejoice. – Cherokee Saying
• "I have done my best." That is about all the philosophy of living one needs. – Lin Yutang
My late husband used to say that God has a perfect will and a permissive will, a reference to human choice. Actress Sandra Bullock said, "We're all where we're supposed to be," (http://wonderwall.msn.com/movies/sandra-bullock-life-is-a-series-of-disa...). And, I like Mother Teresa’s words: “Life is a promise; fulfill it.”
