Patty Craig: A Slice of Time

In preparation for the Thanksgiving season, I thought I’d share my not-so-thankful-for list, getting it out of the way and making room in my head for more positive thoughts. Human nature causes us to have a little negativity. Those closest to me may already know my list: I may have complained (grumbled and whined) about these things before.

My not-so-thankful-for list includes the following items or incidents (and a few more…):
•    Squeaky grocery carts
•    Litter along roadways
•    Having my newspaper rained on (totally my fault for not getting it out of my driveway sooner)
•    Having to re-start my wireless network (for any reason…)
•    Letting gas drip on my vehicle’s paint (Not only is this wasteful, but it stinks – for a while.)
I also asked my family and friends what would be on their not-so-thankful-for lists. Their replies are listed below:
I am not thankful for:
•    Unexpected expenses.
•    Slow drivers.
•    People who don’t use turn signals, fleas, flies, and mosquitoes.
•    Bugs that bite or sting.
•    Rude people. People who don’t smile back when smiled at.
•    Gum smacking and chewing with the mouth open.
•    People taking 49 items through the “20 or less” line.
•    Being OCD; I’m glad I’m not a slacker, but wish that I wasn’t such a perfectionist.
•    Hemorrhoids.
•    Gum on the ground and junk mail; and my daughter’s canker sores and her bad dreams.
•    Automated answering systems: I always love giving them an hour of my day for a five minute answer.
•    People throwing trash in my yard
•    A slow moving drain: if my tub is backing up at all, I cannot stand it.
•    Empty toilet paper rolls and expired milk.
•    People who talk on cell phones in line at the grocery store.
•    Kim Kardashian, Honey Boo Boo, and anybody driving in the left-hand lane who shouldn’t be on the highway in the first place.
•    Loud public cell phone conversations.
•    The red tape in human organizations and texting replacing voice communications.

Now that I’ve shared my not-so-thankful-for list, I can move on and leave the grumbling behind. I’m prepared for the up-coming Thanksgiving season! (What’s on your not-so-thankful-for list?)
