P31: A Mother and Daughter Business

After making homemade laundry soap for her family for several years, Tabby Daugherty got the idea that others might buy some. Fast forward from there and P31 was opened in October 2018. What started with the one product has evolved into thirty products for sale made from Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils. And now, her two oldest daughters have started making their own products.

The name P31 comes from Proverbs 31: 17-18, “she girdeth her loins with strength and strengtheneth her arms. She perceiveth that her merchandise is good, her candle goeth not out by night.”

Along with being an entrepreneur, Tabby is also a nurse. Working PRN, as needed, at Morgantown Care and Rehabilitation Tabby was exposed to and later tested positive for the virus. Fortunately, with only two days of migraines, loss of smell, taste and no energy she recovered because of prayers from family and friends, Chlorophyll ES and sunshine. When her quarantine was over she went back to the nursing home on Mother's Day so other nurses could spend time with their families.

Tabby’s children are Chloe, Shelby, Oakley and Ransom. Chloe is 14 and will be a sophomore in August. She has created a Face Mask Cleanser which is available at P31 and is getting good reviews. Shelby is 13 and will be starting 8th grade. She is staying busy making homemade laundry soap.  Oakley is 9 and is looking forward to the 4th grade. Ransom is five and is going into kindergarten.

Jason, Tabby's husband, has been a union carpenter for thirteen years. He grew up working with his father, Bill Daugherty in the construction industry.

You can purchase P 31 products at Tabby’s store located at 104 South Tyler Street. As with many other stores in the area, hours are amended to Tuesday-Friday, noon to 5 PM. You can shop through the website at any time at www.p31storefront.com.
