ORCA's Jersy Alford signs to play college basketball

Oak Ridge Christian Academy celebrated a momentous sports signing event Saturday July 1st, honoring Jersy Alford's commitment to play women's basketball at Campbellsville Harrodsburg University. The event marked a significant milestone for both Jersy and the school. Jersy is the daughter of Jessie and Amanda Alford.


With an impressive track record, Jersy Alford proved herself to be a powerhouse on the basketball court. Throughout her last two years of high school, she remained undefeated, showcasing her exceptional skills and dedication to the game. She is the first girl to sign to a college team from the school. 



Jersy's basketball journey began at an early age when she first joined the varsity team in sixth grade. Under the guidance of her coach and father, Jessie Alford, she excelled on the court. Along with her athletic accomplishments, Jersy graduated with a 3.93 GPA, demonstrating her commitment to excellence both on and off the court.


The signing event welcomed the presence of Lakesha Perry, the head coach of the Campbellsville Harrodsburg Pioneers, who showed her support for Jersy's decision. Perry's attendance highlighted the significance of this signing not only for Oak Ridge Christian Academy but also for the basketball program at Campbellsville Harrodsburg University.


Jersy Alford's stats speak volumes about her impact on the game. Throughout her high school career, she amassed an impressive 723 rebounds, 388 steals, 509 assists, 88 blocks, and scored 1,282 points. Her exceptional performances led Oak Ridge to two state runner-up finishes and three state championships, solidifying her place as a standout athlete in the region. Recognizing her immense talent, Jersy has received numerous accolades, including four all-state awards, two state MVPs, and the prestigious KCAA Miss Basketball title.


Principal Adam Kirby expressed his gratitude for having had the opportunity to witness Jersy's growth and success at Oak Ridge Christian Academy. He remarked, "It's been a blessing to be her principal. Jersy has a fantastic work ethic and determination to succeed. We are honored that she chose college to play basketball. We look forward to seeing her play at the next level."



Filled with enthusiasm, Jersy Alford spoke of her excitement for the journey that lies ahead. She stated, "I'm so excited to be starting this journey; it's truly a dream come true, and I would like to thank everyone who came out and helped make this day special." Her gratitude and dedication to the sport are evident, and she is ready to embrace the challenges that await her at the collegiate level.
