Ogden named 2026 KY MaxPreps Player of the Year
South Warren senior Layla Ogden has been named the 2026 Kentucky MaxPreps Player of the Year after leading the Spartans to a perfect 45-0 record and the first softball state championship in school history.
In January 2026, Ogden was named MaxPreps PreseasonKentucky Player of the Year and followed with one of the most productive two-way seasons.
At the plate, Ogden hit .492 (64-for-130) with 14 home runs, 67 RBI, 41 runs scored and four stolen bases while batting cleanup for the Spartans.
In the circle, Ogden went 18-0 with a 0.77 ERA in 72.2 innings, striking out 109 and walking 18. She allowed only nine earned runs all season, ranking No. 1 in Kentucky in fewest runs allowed, and finished as one of only two undefeated pitchers in the state.
A captain and starting pitcher/first baseman, Ogden delivered in the postseason with power, homering in the Regional Finals and the KHSAA State Tournament quarterfinals to extend South Warren’s undefeated run and propel the Spartans to the state title.
