A Trip to Africa
On February 17, Gregory Acker visited North Butler Elementary (NBES).  He was in Peace Core.  He always loved West Africa.  It was there he discovered his passion for African drums.  He is now a community artist.  He taught North Butler's 4th and 5th grade the following songs: a two part song Yonkadee-Makru, and Sichee. He also taught students an African dance to go with the songs.  Thank you Gregory Acker for giving North Butler a piece of African culture.

That same week artist Jessie Ray Sims came to North Butler to help the 5th grade paint a mural. The mural is African themed.  We had a great time working on the mural.
